The Importance Of An Early Orthodontic Evaluation

As a parent, it’s clear that you want to provide your child with only the best. Therefore it makes sense that you would consider choosing Dr. Karanth as your Orthodontics. We craft beautiful smiles and help promote the best health for your whole family. When considering an orthodontist, we want to bring attention to the area of early care.

Most children need do not two phases of orthodontics.

By age seven, enough permanent teeth have come in and enough jaw growth will occur that Dr. Karanth can identify existing concerns and anticipate future problems. Any ongoing damaging oral habits can be assessed at this time also. In many cases, no treatment is indicated at this age, but it is a great time to begin planning for future needs for the most effective treatment plan by entering into our growth and development program.

Growth Guidance Program

At Gainesville Dental Arts Orthodontics we can save your family time and money with our complimentary Growth Guidance Program. Dr. Karanth can evaluate your child to determine if early orthodontic treatment is appropriate. Monitoring your child’s dental growth and oral health can be discouraging and confusing, especially when orthodontic care can seem unnecessary for your younger child. The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that all children receive an orthodontic evaluation by age 7.

Most children at this age are not yet ready for active orthodontic treatment. However, we will evaluate and monitor your child every 6 months to a year, to screen for any growth issues and determine the right time for orthodontic treatment, if any treatment is needed. Your child would benefit from our Complimentary Growth Guidance Program if you notice any of the following conditions:

Giving your child a head start in orthodontics can prevent difficult, uncomfortable and time-consuming orthodontic therapies in the future. Bone tissue in children is much softer to change jaw structure and move teeth. Evaluating certain problems at an early stage can minimize any future oral problems like oral surgery and prevent extractions.
