Dr. Karanth and the team are here to answer any questions you may have regarding early care. However, there are also some simple ways to take a closer glimpse at your child’s mouth to determine if you might want to consider early care. For example if your child is experiencing any of the following issues, you especially may want to consider appointing your child for early orthodontic evaluation. Difficulty in biting or chewing, thumb Sucking crowded, misaligned or blocked-off teeth, protruding teeth, jaws that are set far forward or back, grinding or clenching teeth

Dr. Karanth uses digital imaging and a detailed examination to create a customized treatment plan that results in a beautiful smile, a well-functioning bite, and healthy jaw joints. Teeth that are positioned better are easier to keep clean. An accurate bite improves jaw function, increases chewing efficiency, provides long-term health to the jaw muscles and joints, and sustains the health of the gum tissue.

It's their goal to provide the highest quality orthodontic treatment in a professional, caring and fun environment where patients are the top priority and where getting braces is a pleasant experience. by age seven, Gainesville Dental Arts offers a complimentary in-depth consultation.

Not all children require early treatment. Most are simply evaluated early and monitored periodically until the right time to start braces. However, some kids do need a two-phase treatment plan. A short first phase directs jaw growth and development to allow room for permanent teeth.

During this consultation, Dr. Karanth will:

  1. Review your dental and medical history
  2. Perform a complete oral exam
  3. Help you determine if clear braces are the best route for you
  4. Discuss flexible payment plan options and insurance benefits if applicable

No matter how old you are, there's never been a better time to consider orthodontic treatment. Technology has significantly advanced the field of orthodontics, and there are so many options available to you. We offer traditional silver braces, or a more aesthetic, clear option. You can even get removable options. Patients may often choose colors for their braces.

Teeth move to their determined positions under gentle, constant force with careful control. The latest materials are so advanced, and designed to move teeth more efficiently with greater comfort.

We individualize our approach to each patient, considering both aesthetic and functional-structural principles when planning treatment. Bioesthetic orthodontics, combining both biologic form and functional occlusion goals, can provide a more holistic and pleasing solution. We work to ensure that form can follow function and function can follow form.

Our planning encompasses the airway, breathing function and craniofacial development, which are interconnected and interdependent during growth. It is imperative to normalize form and function as early as possible so that function is optimized for life. In our planning, we also consider temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. By arranging the teeth to work with the alignment of the jaw joints, a more stable result can be attained.

We employ digital low-radiation scans and x-rays and the latest advances in the orthodontic medicine field, including self-ligating metal, clear brackets, Incognito lingual appliances (braces that go behind the teeth), and articulators (jaw simulators) to study each patient's malocclusion. We also work with other highly certified specialists, including periodontists, oral surgeons and restorative dentists, to treat more complicated cases.
